The Barrington 220 referendum provided the foundation for a remarkable new Community Auditorium — a state-of-the-art facility that will serve students, families, and the broader Barrington community for generations to come.
The new auditorium, scheduled to open within the next two years, will feature:
- Increased seating capacity to welcome larger audiences and community events
- Improved backstage facilities for cast, crew, and student performers
- An in-house control booth designed to provide authentic technical theater and production learning experiences for students
- Intentionally designed inclusive spaces with accessible seating and accommodations

While the referendum funded the construction of this incredible new facility, the enhancements featured in the Elevate the Arts Campaign were not included in the original project scope. These enhancements are not about replacing what already exists — they are about elevating the experience even further.
The B220 Elevate the Arts Campaign focuses on transformational upgrades that will turn an outstanding auditorium into a truly premier performing arts destination. Projects such as scenic stage projection, upgraded auditorium seating finishes, acoustical enhancements, remote broadcasting capabilities, and courtyard gathering spaces will enrich performances, expand accessibility, strengthen community engagement, and provide students with experiences that reflect professional-level arts environments.
These enhancements will help ensure that the new Community Auditorium is not simply a building, but a vibrant hub for creativity, connection, learning, and community pride.
